Lily
MBISS GChS | JC DCAT
Phaeton Kallalily of Haefen
For many years, I held on to the last straws of frozen semen from Stirling in the hopes of finding a bitch with the look and pedigree that I thought would produce the salukis I so wanted and I was so grateful that Roberta Parish allowed me to co-breed a litter with her bitch Ch. Haefen Freespirit Fenit, a red sable bitch that I had loved from a distance.
When the litter was born, there was one sailed fawn bitch and all the rest of the puppies were creams. Stirling had a littermate, Sasha who died tragically when she was very young and got away from the leash in city traffic. At the time I was utterly devastated. She too had been a sabled fawn — and I think when I first saw Lily, I knew she was meant to be ours.
In every way, she has proven to be a stellar saluki — winning multiple specialty best in shows and hound group best in shows, twice qualifying for the Top 20, getting an Award of Merit at the SCOA National, winning the breed at the AKC Royal Canin National Championship, flying down the track to earn fast cat titles and chasing the lure to get a JC. And last year she had a litter — just a singleton puppy, Dolly — who looks so much like her!
One moment, she is a delicate as a princess and the next ready to take down the deer in the field behind our house, like a supermodel and an athlete.
