Kaspian
BIS MBISS GChS
Haefen Phaeton Kaspian
When we went to make our pick from the Stirling/Fenit litter, I had pretty much decided in advance that we needed to take a bitch — and was delighted to pick Lily — but we fell in love with Kaspian and spent a long sleepless night deciding if there was really any way we could keep two pups at time…. Still, if there was pup that reminded me of Stirling, Kaspian was the one.
Flash forward 4 years and I received an email from his owners asking if we would consider taking him. I jumped at the opportunity and a few days later he was sitting with me on the couch and running like the wind in the yard with his sister, Lily and new pal, Kyra.
His original owners had shown him with much success and had bred to him twice. And after he came to live with us, I began showing him as well, usually at specialties and big weekends. There were a few nice wins, a lot of Best of Opposite or Select Dog at specialties — until he won his first specialty in Orlando!
Since then, Kaspian has gone on to win many Specialty Best of Breeds and an all breed Best in Show and was the number one male saluki in the US in 2025 — as a veteran no less! In February of 2026, Kaspian was Best of Breed at the Westminster Kennel Club under breeder judge David Miller and then went on to win Group 4 under Michael Canalizo — under the lights at Madison Square Garden, one of the greatest thrills and honors ever!
He’s one of those dogs that I stylish and correct, lovely and light on the move, stands his ground like a stallion — and just loves to be hugged and cuddled.
